Information and communications Technology (ICT) and My Work

Our country’s economy is primarily based on agriculture. One of the primary objectives of the government is to promote food security and sufficiency of our staple food in the country.
The magnitude of crop losses due to existence of a large number of destructive pest and diseases which are causing detrimental damage to our agricultural crops. Thus new technologies are necessary. In order to get oriented to the new technologies developed appropriate measures or tools must be needed like ICT. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are important in facilitating communication and access to the new information for agricultural and also for the rural development. The government national priority is the agriculture sector, therefore it is one of the important beneficial areas for the application of ICTs and also it will give us updates on new trends and ideas on the new technology developed in the field of agriculture.
Information and communications Technology (ICT) is described as an umbrella that includes any communication devises or applications such as radio, television, cell phone, computer and network hardware and software, satellite system.
ICT plays important role in my work; it facilitates easily the analysis of experimental data through the use of computer . However when it comes to extension services, I can easily communicate with our cooperator regarding the status of our experiment and give them instruction for implementation of activities in the field.
